August Schoolhouse Artist: Phyllis Joos

 I am driven to produce art because of the personal joy I experience in its creation. As an artist, I collect colors and patterns and stories of the world around me and gather these experiences and take them to the studio and try to capture my thoughts on paper, and that challenges me every day.  I love playing with forms, colors and shapes and the conversation between paper, plate and ink and the interaction between human life and nature and the stories they may tell. Each print is a process of discovery and exploration with a new story to be told. I love working with highly textured plates and vibrant color and meshing that with other printmaking techniques.  Each print produced is not considered a "copy" but rather is considered an "original".
