Meet Stephen Henning

Stephen Henning’s career as an artist spans decades, evolving from award-winning graphic design and illustration into a celebrated journey of impressionistic painting. An alumnus of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the University of Minnesota, Stephen first made his mark as an art director and creative director in the Twin Cities, where his innovative work garnered several awards.

A pivotal visit to a Monet exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 1989 ignited his passion for painting, and by 1993, Stephen had transitioned to creating art full-time. His dedication to the arts extended beyond his own practice, leading to the founding of the Evansville Arts Coalition in 1995, an initiative designed to bring more arts opportunities into his community. He also contributed to arts education through his participation in the Artists in the Schools programs sponsored by COMPAS and the Minnesota State Arts Board.
