Working in a sketchbook can be an important part of an artist’s life, beyond just “sketching”

out ideas. For me it is vital for stress relief and well being... and I have a lot of fun! I hope this

class will help you discover drawing or if you have a history with drawing trying new

techniques to use in your sketchbook. We’ll explore the process of drawing, observation,

composition, shading, and different levels of completeness. We’ll bring our other passions

into our sketchbooks, and explore different types of reference. But most of all we’ll have a

good time observing and capturing the stories that a building can tell.

Farwell has wonderful buildings in the city. The corner garage, schoolhouse, creamery, and

many other buildings in the community will be used for our inspiration and building

confidence with drawing.

Bring a chair for sitting, water bottle, lunch. Dress for the weather, bring bug spray. If you

have a sketchbook bring it or let the instructor know if you need suggestions for purchasing

one. Also bring a micron drawing pen (.05 or .03 is great) Instructor will provide other

supplies for your use.

Cost $40 for the workshop due on the day of the workshop
